Silicon Valley firms unite to promote sustainability, fight global warming [USA]

The participating companies [in the Sustainable Silicon Valley project, SSV] — ALZA, Calpine, Hewlett-Packard, Life Scan [LifeScan], Lockheed, Oracle, and PG&E — as well the NASA Ames Research Center, Santa Clara Valley Water District, and the city of San Jose have committed to a goal of cutting Santa Clara County's carbon dioxide emissions to 20 percent below 1990 levels by 2010.
