Skye faces Guatemala protest

Canadian nickel mining company Skye Resources Inc is facing protests at its plan to reopen the Fenix project in Guatemala. An unspecified number of Mayan families occupied land associated with the project over the weekend, with the aim of establishing subsistence farming communities, said a statement by Vancouver-based Skye..."The situation on the ground is peaceful..." said Skye. Talks with the groups have so far been unsuccessful, and although these will continue, the company is also "pursuing legal avenues."
