Slowly but surely, clean water becomes reality in China

The Chinese Ministry of Water Resources announced Friday that it will launch a project to improve environmental conditions around the Cetian reservoir in central China. The site has been polluted heavily by industry, and is also home to one of China's nuclear missile bases. The ministry will invest $209 million to control pollution around the reservoir which is a major source of potable water in that area. "Coal, the chemical industry, medicines, and gasoline are the main sources of pollution here," said Zhang Hai, an official with the Environmental Protection Bureau which supervises the project.
