Total pays 5.2 mln eur to settle claims of forced labour use in Myanmar

Total SA said it has agreed to pay 5.2 mln eur to settle claims that the oil giant used forced labour at its Yadana gas pipeline project in Myanmar, ending legal proceedings that had been brought against the company in a French court in 2002... Total repeated its 'categorical denial' of the claims, and said it settled for 'humanitarian reasons'. [also refers to Unocal (now part of Chevron), PTT, MOGE (Myanmar Oil & Gas Enterprise)]
