Toyota, San Miguel workers lose labor cases at Supreme Court [Philippines]

Two big businesses have won their labor cases against their workers before the Supreme Court, which has in both instances deleted the award of damages to the workers. In one of the cases, the high court ruled that the strikes of the Toyota Motors Philippines Corp. workers in 2001 were illegal because they failed to comply with the requirements under the Labor Code for holding such actions, such as the notice of strike and the strike vote...In another case, the Supreme Court said the San Miguel Corporation was not required to pay 20 supervising security guards in its Beer Division overtime pay and damages because of its "no time card policy."
