"Deprived of salary, 12 Nepalis stranded in UAE", 15 May 2019

12 Nepali workers in the United Arab Emirates have been stranded as their employer failed to pay them salary for past two months... they have been unable to make a living as the Abu Dhabi-based company did not pay them the wages... the company is yet to pay overtime wages for past three to six months... The company has been asserting that it was not paid by its clients, making it unable to pay the workers... The owner of residence has been putting pressure on the victims to leave the apartment as they do not have money to pay... the owner had obstructed electricity and water supply as a warning... The victims have not reported to work for past two days. The company has not contacted them in this period. Meanwhile, the stranded workers appealed to the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi to solve the problem at the earliest. The Embassy’s Labour Counsellor Bhesh Bahadur Karki informs that the Embassy already urged the company to solve the problem. If the problem will not be solved within next one week, a legal and diplomatic remedy will be solved, according to him.
