UAE: State news agency reports labour dispute settlement involving 320 workers

On 7 September 2019, the Emirates state news agency reported the settlement of a labour dispute involving 320 workers in Abu Dhabi. According to the report, the Abu Dhabi Labour Tribunal at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department set-up a mobile court to expedite the processing of workers’ claims in relation to salary delays.

The court also ruled to liquidate the implicated company’s bank guarantee. Reports indicated the transfer of workers’ residences to another company. Those choosing to return home were apparently provided with tickets.

The implicated company was not named in the article. No information was provided on the nationality of workers involved.

Abu Dhabi Labour Tribunal settles group dispute of 320 workers in a record period

The Abu Dhabi Labour Tribunal at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department,ADJD, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Abu Dhabi General Services Company,Musanada, has succeeded in ending a collective labour dispute involving 320 workers...

...the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation [prepared] lists of workers wishing to move to other companies, and lists of workers wishing to return to their home countries including their places of residence, and then book tickets for them on the nearest flight. The [judicial] department also noted the rapid response of Musanada to enforce the court judgment ruling the liquidation of the defendant company's bank guarantee.
