UK: Construction companies fined for safety code violations

"Construction companies fined after worker seriously injured after fall", 8 July 2019 

Fines have been handed out to two construction companies and a director after a man was seriously injured after falling from scaffolding in Reading... in December 2016...

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive found the principal contractor failed to control the safety on the site and that the sub contractor carried out unsafe work practices…

In a hearing… the principal contractor, Turnkey Contractors Limited… admitted breaching… The Health and Safety at Work Act… [and] was fined £40,000…

The subcontractor, Cedar Ridge Construction Limited… admitted breaching… The Work at Height Regulations 2005. The company was also fined £40,000…
