Dozens of Deliveroo bikes have been parked...as a protest against the food delivery service’s pay.

Protesters say they face regular attacks by moped gangs...who attempt to rob riders...

...The [strike organiser] said today's demonstration is a bid to show people his colleagues’ anger at recent pay cuts, as well as the police presence...

...A Deliveroo spokesman defended the firm’s rate of pay... “We've recently introduced changes that mean riders are now getting higher fees for the deliveries they make...We have paid out higher fees on more than 70 per cent of orders since those changes. Riders in Bristol make nearly £10 an hour during meal times – well above the National Minimum Wage..."

“Rider safety is a priority for Deliveroo and we have introduced a number of features in the app to allow riders to raise concerns about specific delivery areas. Riders can also unassign themselves from a delivery if they don’t feel safe, which won’t affect how they work with us in the future.”
