UK: Family of man who died from asbestos-related cancer receive large settlement from previous employers

The family of a man...has received a six-figure sum of compensation following his death from mesothelioma.  Mr F was diagnosed with mesothelioma at the age of 67.  Mesothelioma is an incurable asbestos-related cancer affecting the lining of the lungs.  Because Mr F was exposed to asbestos many decades in the past, he did not realise that it was be possible to bring a claim for compensation against his former employers for negligent exposure to asbestos...Vijay Ganapathy investigated Mr F’s claim and was able to identify two former employers who had allowed the negligent exposure to high levels of asbestos dust that Mr R suffered; a pipe fitters in the early 1970s...; and a cement works where Mr F was required to clean...Vijay negotiated a six figure settlement within six months of Mr F approaching Leigh Day.  Vijay Ganapathy commented: “Sadly Mr F died only a few days after the settlement was agreed but I believe that the knowledge that his family would be supported financially after his death did at least offer him some relief.”...
