UK: Portuguese crew issue open letter to P&O Ferries over poor working conditions & wages

"P&O Ferries blasted by Pride of Hull staff in open letter over 'poor working conditions and pay", 9 July 2019 

An open letter has been written by “unhappy and upset” Portuguese staff to the ferry giant with crew members outlining a number of concerns.

They claim they are being made to work two months with no time off and are being paid a low salary which does not reflect the work they are being asked to do.

P&O say it complies fully with international agreements and that its staff are paid fairly...

In a letter written to P&O Ferries and recruitment company Clyde Marine, the crew said...“Our salary is unsatisfactory and not adjusted to all the hours of work we have to perform...

The letter, which has been signed by all Portuguese crew members on board The Pride of Hull, continued: “We would like a review on our working period on board. We believe that working two months with no time off is detrimental to our health"...
