UNICEF briefing: Why businesses should invest in digital child safety

Author: UNICEF, Published on: 18 June 2019

UNICEF has just released a brief on how companies can invest in digital child safety. With the rapidly expanding power and reach of the ICT sector,  communications and technology companies have been thrust into key policy debates around the risks and opportunities children encounter online. The brief provides the case for how companies can integrate children’s rights into their digital operations by using the Child Online Safety Assessment (COSA) tool and building on the experience of the LEGO Group.

The tool itself is based on the UNICEF ITU Child Online Protection Guidelines for Industry and the briefing includes learnings from the LEGO Group in using the tool, advice to other companies and recommendations from UNICEF on how companies can recognize and respond to children’s rights in the digital world.
