UPS Airlines helping in Horn of Africa crisis

United Parcel Service Inc. has pitched in to provide assistance to relief efforts in the Horn of Africa, which is suffering through a major drought and famine. A special 767 charter flight from Cologne, Germany, part of UPS's Louisville-based UPS Airlines division, will fly to Nairobi, loaded with 50 metric tons of food to assist World Food Programme. Over the next three weeks, UPS will coordinate the in-kind transport of an additional 60 metric tons of ready-to-use food supplements for UNICEF from Amsterdam to Nairobi...According to a July report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Horn of Africa is experiencing the most severe food crisis in the world today. More than 12 million people in Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and Djibouti are severely affected and in need of urgent life-saving assistance.
