Vale response

Vale informs that it is not aware of any legal proceedings filled against the company related to the acts of violence mentioned by the NGO Même Droits pour Tous (MDT).  Vale clarifies that it has never undertaken in or supported any acts of violence in Zogota. In 2012, the Vale BSGR Guine (VBG) camp was invaded by demonstrators and the facilities were damaged. For safety reasons, employees were evacuated in an orderly manner, protecting the entire team’s well-being. VBG then fulfilled its duty by communicating the incident to the local authorities. Vale strongly condemns any act of violence and it follows the highest international standards for human rights such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
