Vellore [district in Tamil Nadu, India] all set to get rid of child labour

All efforts are being made to eliminate child labour from Alangayam, Anaicut, Arakkonam, Kaveripakkam, Wallajah and Nemili unions in the district, according to Collector S Gopalakrishnan. Speaking to journalists here, on Tuesday, he said the district had 1,631 hazardous industries, including beedi [cigarettes], match box, tanneries, powerlooms, mechanic shops, etc.
