Wash. fines Okanogan gold mine for false reports [US]

The Washington Department of Ecology has fined a mining company $22,000 for submitting inaccurate test results of water discharge from its gold mine in north-central Washington. Crown Resources Corp., a subsidiary of Kinross Gold Co. of Toronto, has 30 days to pay the civil penalty or appeal...Doug Jones, Crown Resources vice president and general manager, said the past inaccuracies have been addressed and the company has taken action to ensure continued future compliance with all permits.
