What should Apple do in China?

...I want to consider how large global brands like Apple can better monitor supply chains in places like China...Apple needs to act quickly now. There are three things it can do immediately: It should talk face-to-face (not via the telephone), and it should do from a position of wanting to learn as much as it can so as to rectify the most urgent problems immediately; It needs to open up effective communication channels with stakeholders...The company needs to be open, honest and willing to act to build its image in China; Apple must spend the time required to build meaningful relationships on the ground in China. This cannot be done from California. It should hire somebody to do this work in China;...[T]he company must embark on a longer-term strategy to manage risk in the supply chain. It will take more than a code of conduct and audit reports on the website. It must work with trusted stakeholders in China.
