La ONG holandesa SNV, dedicada a la lucha contra la pobreza, y el Consejo Empresarial Mundial para el Desarrollo Sostenible (WBCSD, por sus siglas en inglés) llegaron a un acuerdo de colaboración para fomentar los convenios económicos entre las empresas multinacionales procedentes de países del Norte y las comunidades de países desfavorecidos, con el fin de que la obtención de beneficios de la compañías repercuta positivamente en la mejora de las condiciones de vida de las personas más necesitadas...Las grandes empresas que operan en estas zonas además de obtener sus propios beneficios, facilitan que los habitantes de esas regiones tengan acceso a la comida, a agua potable, a una vivienda y a una educación...el presidente de la compañía iberoamericana Grupo Nueva...indicó que su empresa 'se ha puesto el objetivo de obtener el 10% de sus beneficios de las comunidades de bajos ingresos'.
