Burma: Displacement, other concerns at Dawei (Tavoy) deep-sea port project - Jan 2011

Two news reports appeared in December 2011 citing alleged abuses – including displacement, environmental degradation and labour concerns -- in connection with the Dawei (Tavoy) deep-sea port development project on the Burmese-Thai border being developed by the Italian-Thai Development Company:

On 10 January The Irrawaddy reported that the government had cancelled the coal-fired power plant project that would supply electricity to the industrial zone:
