Cambodia: Allegations of forced evictions at Borei Keila - Jan - Feb 2012

On 3 January more than 200 homes in the Borei Keila neighborhood of Phnom Penh were demolished with the presence and support of police and security guards of the developer Phan Imex. Although Phan Imex had agreed to build ten buildings to house the residents in exchange for rights to develop the land, reports say it had only constructed eight buildings leaving hundreds of families homeless.  Residents fought back, reportedly throwing bricks at the police and guards; eight were imprisoned.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Phan Imex to respond to the following news reports, video, and commentary; the company did not respond.
