Philippines: Dong Seung factory workers allege union interference; legal threats and withholding of benefits reported

Workers at Dong Seung garments factory in the Philippines allege that the company is interfering with their right to organise. A report notes that the company is opposing the formation of an independent union and has resorted to threats and other schemes to discourage membership in the union.

The workers are calling on the buyers of Dong Seung, specifically Ann Inc, which owns Ann Taylor and Macy's, to help their efforts pursuant to these global brands' code of conduct that requires suppliers to respect freedom of association and collective bargaining.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Dong Seung, Ann Inc, and Macy's to respond to this allegations. To date, these companies have not responded.
