The UN Human Rights Council has voted to establish a database that will name companies doing business in Israel’s settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, in a symbolic victory for the Palestinians and a blow to the Israeli government and its allies...The database will cover a wide range of industries, including construction, security services, banks and utility companies, potentially covering a number of Israeli and international companies...Israel, the US and the UK had fought against the database provision for fear it would lead to pressure to boycott the companies in question...Israel’s government worries that the boycott of settlements could pave the way for a boycott of all Israeli goods...
