[video] Ecuadoreans continue fight against Chevron

Ver todas las etiquetas
The latest chapter in a multi-billion-dollar battle between oil giant Chevron and Ecuadorean villagers is heading for a US courtroom. The trial, which begins Tuesday in New York, continues a long-running dispute over contamination at oil fields in northeastern Ecuador operated by Texaco, which Chevron bought in 2001. Chevron denies any wrongdoing and claims Texaco cleaned up the pollution. The oil giant also claims the villagers and their US attorney committed fraud and bribery to win the $18bn judgment. Chevron says this is grounds to stop the payout. Al Jazeera's Monica Villamizar reports from the Ecuadorian Amazon.
