With AIDA's help, Peruvians harmed by smelter pollution will get comprehensive medical exams

In September 2007, we introduced you to two-year old Margarita, a little girl in La Oroya, Peru suffering from intense seizures and other ailments caused by severe pollution from the Doe Run [part of Renco] Peru multi-metal smelter…We are now pleased to report that as a result of our efforts and the [Inter-American Commission on Human Rights] action, Margarita received emergency medical attention and her health improved significantly. Furthermore…she and others in La Oroya will receive comprehensive medical evaluations for the first time.
