Australia: New court case against hiring agency over alleged bad working conditions

A West Australian labour-hire company is facing court, alleged to have failed to pay back more than $20,000 to underpaid fruit packers.
The Fair Work Ombudsman has commenced legal action in the Federal Circuit Court against Corporation Sun Pty Ltd and its part-owner and chief executive Michael Le.
Fair Work had issued the company a compliance notice requiring it to pay $20,011 to 11 workers who were allegedly paid unlawfully low rates for sorting and packing fruit at Taddei Orchards, near Gingin.
The FWO alleges the employees, who were all Taiwanese nationals on working holiday visas, were underpaid between $290 to $3,433 for work performed between January and October 2017...
