Complaint to the Slovenian National Contact Point over fracking activities of Ascent Resources in Slovenia

12 November 2019, 17 civil society organizations and civil initiatives filed a complaint with the Slovenian and British National Contact Points (NCPs) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) against Ascent Resources plc for breach of responsible business behavior in regard to hydraulic fracturing (fracking) activities in Slovenia. Civil society demands that Ascent Resources carry out its activities in Slovenia in full compliance with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (OECD Guidelines). Given the severity of the potential adverse effects of hydraulic fracturing activities, adherence to the OECD Guidelines may mean that Ascent Resources will have to cease these activities immediately...

The complaint is the first case to be filed to the Slovenian NCP. Therefore, foreign organizations are also monitoring what will happen to the case...
