Justiça nos Trilhos named first-ever recipient of Human Rights & Business Award

The Human Rights and Business Award is an annual award, accompanied by a US $50,000 grant, which recognises "outstanding work by human rights defenders in the Global South or former Soviet Union addressing the human rights impacts of business in those regions”. On 26 November 2018, Justiça nos Trilhos was announced as the first-ever recipient of the award for their work with local communities in Brazil to address human rights and environmental abuses by mining and steel companies. The award will be presented to Justiça nos Trilhos on 27 November 2018 in Geneva, at the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights.

The announcement of the first recipient also coincides with the launch of the website of the Human Rights and Business Award, available in 7 languages here.
