Lebanon: Healthcare workers strike over unpaid wages and overstretched workloads

In May 2022, dozens of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff went on strike for two days to protest the rapidly deteriorating economic situation which affected both public and private facilities.

Healthcare workers say they are struggling to cope with a reduction in income due to the heavily declining economy and growing workloads that leave them overburdened. Nurses' and doctors' pay barely covers their transportation costs to and from work, and their wages have gone unpaid for months.
