USA: Court dismisses lawsuit by Resolute Forest Products to silence NGOs criticising its environmental impact

In 2016, Resolute Forest Products sued Greenpeace, Greenpeace Fund, Greenpeace International, Stand.earth, and five individual defendants for defamation in US courts. The Canadian logging company also sued the environmental activist groups for federal conspiracy under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. On 22 January 2019, a US District Judge dismissed the racketeering claims. However, he also ruled that defamation and unfair competition claims against Greenpeace could continue.
