Procès contre Riwal (mur de séparation entre Israël et la Palestine)

Riwal LogoEn 2010, Al-Haq a déposé une plainte contre Riwal aux Pays-Bas pour sa participation dans la construction du mur de séparation que la Cour Internationale de Justice a déclaré illégal. En mai 2013, le procureur général des Pays-Bas a rejeté l'affaire.

Today, the Dutch Public Prosecutor announced the decision to dismiss the case against Lima Holding B.V., Riwal's parent company, for involvement in Israeli war crimes...According to the complaint, filed in 2010 in the Netherlands by Advocate Liesbeth Zegveld on behalf of Al-Haq, the Dutch company participated in the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity by virtue of its contribution to Israel's illegal practices in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. While Al-Haq is disappointed with the decision of the Prosecutor not to pursue criminal charges at this time, we welcome the important steps taken by the Prosecution in investigating the complaint for three years...Having established that the company and its directors contributed to the construction of the Annexation Wall and Israeli settlements in the OPT in at least the six incidents identified in the complaint...[T]he Prosecutor weighed Riwal's contribution against the entire settlement enterprise...the Prosecutor consequently deemed the contribution of the defendants minor.

The offices of Dutch based international rental company Riwal were subjected to a search yesterday by the Dutch Ministry of Justice. The company has issued a statement saying that the search followed a report or claim by an unknown party. It says that the reason for the investigation is still unclear…Liesbeth Zegveld of Böhler the Amsterdam human rights lawyer, has issued a press release stating that she filed a criminal complaint against Riwal on March 15th on behalf of the Palestinian organization Al-Haq. The organistation claims that the company’s equipment has been used to help build the wall being erected between Israel and Palestine and in occupied territory of the West Bank.
