Bangladesh: Around 1700 garment workers stage sit-protests demanding unpaid wages; incl. co. responses

In June 2025, it was reported that around 1700 workers from Modiste CEPZ staged a sit-in strike demanding their May wages, after multiple promises from management that their dues would be paid. According to the Chattogram Economic Processing Zone (CEPZ) Executive Director, the factory had been struggling with declining orders and reduced production over the previous 3-4 months, which led to delays in wage payments.
