Rajiv Maher (Tecnológico de Monterrey / EGADE Business School, San Pedro Garza García - Mexico) wrote the article "Deliberating or Stalling for Justice? Dynamics of Corporate Remediation and Victim Resistance Through the Lens of Parentalism: The Fundão dam Collapse and the Renova Foundation in Brazil", in which, starting from the concept of political corporate social responsibility (PCSR) of parentalism, he carried out a case study with the Renova Foundation. The Renova Foundation, a private, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, was created in 2016 with the aim of repairing the damage caused to the population of Bento Rodrigues, Mariana (MG), by the rupture of the Fundão dam the previous year. The dam was the responsibility of the company Samarco which, in turn, is a joint venture between the companies Vale and BHP. Maher collected data from a combination of fieldwork and archival analysis to assess the perceptions of victims, their advocates and foundation executives. The article concludes that "the case of Fundação Renova lends itself as another example of organizations, in accordance with parentalism, placing a skewed focus on making the process or input side of MSIs inclusive and dialogue-centric while failing to do the same at the other end with outcomes or outputs" We invited the Renova Foundation to comment on the publication and it has done so.
