When celebrating 100 years of activities in Brazil, Nestlé has been cutting down food aids and shares of profit during Brazil’s Covid-19 pandemic peak, according to local unions. In Brazil, food benefits are commonly given in the form of tickets that employees can exchange for products in supermarkets. It is not mandatory, but it is usually offered by companies as a benefit to their employees. These aids supplement the workers’ salaries, especially when considering the recent raises on basic food items prices (national inflation rate reached 4.5%). We invited Nestlé to respond to these allegations. The company stated that it has not eliminated the meal vouchers.
