Tourism throughout the world is promoted as a means to achieving development, and India is no exception…When combining already sensitive ‘conflict’ zones with tourism development, it is likely that more conflicts will surface…Amidst all these conflicts, tourism is seen as gentler, more sophisticated and green option. Yet threats to the indigenous and local communities and the environment have continued as tourism is gradually and subtly invading tribal areas using forests, water, and tribal culture as potential products.
