Peru: Tragic artisanal gold mining accident leaves 27 people dead

Following the accident at the La Esperanza I mine in Arequipa, the ILO stated that the Peruvian State must prevent this type of fatal event by reinforcing safety measures at work; the 27 deceased were contract workers of the company Servivol. Mining and construction are the two sectors with the highest number of fatal accidents in the country.
