On 30 September, 2021, journalist and online news publisher Youn Chhiv was convicted Thursday of felony incitement and sentenced to one year in prison for broadcasting what officials say is disinformation related to a land dispute in Botum Sakor National Park. Chhiv had posted comments on Facebook through his media outlet, Koh Kong Hot News, regarding a local politician and the demolition by authorities earlier this month of crops and wooden houses on disputed land. Locals are involved in a land dispute with the Phnom Penh Precast Plants company, which has been given permission to build commercial and residential developments at the Boeng Tompun lake. Chhiv also received death threats in 2018.
