He has faced multiple death threats over the years. Antonio Díaz Valencia is an environmentalist and the leader of the Aquila Indigenous community in Michoacán, Mexico. The two land rights activists went missing after attending an anti-mining community meeting. Their vehicle was found ridden with bullet holes.
