According to the information provided by CODECA, the attack occured at approximately 10:00 p.m., when Florencio Nájera and Alejandro Hernández García were traveling together to their respective homes in the Caserío Los Cerritos, Cantón Valencia, Jutiapa, after having attended a community meeting and were suddenly ntercepted, attacked and repeatedly assaulted with machetes by unknown persons. Both defenders died as a result of their injuries.The murdered of the defender happened in the context of continuos attacks to members of peasant movement (CODECA) which has been a strong oponent of energy companies in the region, such as Energuate, from the company Actis Energy.
