Duarle Licardie Maya Mam Council
Fontes
Duarle Licardie was the secretary of the Maya Mam Council, ancestral authority that promotes resistance and territorial defense. He was detained when he passed through Mexico City regarding the supposed kidnapping of engineers from the company Hidro Salá. The case against him was dropped due to lack of evidence. However, he then spent one month in prison accused of attacking public utility services. ENERGUATE accused him of supposedly attacking workers from the company, however he denies this accusation and claims he was mediating between them and community members in the central park of San Pablo when he was arrested. The charges were later dropped. These two accusations form part of a pattern of criminalisation of the processes of resistance in San Pablo, Guatemala.
