Four sue auto dealer, allege bias over race [USA]
Four men who worked at Thomason Toyota have filed a $17.6 million race discrimination lawsuit against the dealership's former owner, Asbury Automotive Group. The employees...all African- Americans...filed a case in federal District Court claiming they worked under hostile conditions and were denied promotions based on race...In 2001, Thomason Auto Group paid 11 former employees a total of $2.5 million after the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission upheld claims of racial, sexual, and religious harassment and found the company had tolerated a hostile work environment...Asbury Automotive Group's vice president for sales and marketing said that he was not familiar with the case and had no comment.
