At least 10 vehicles from the Dirección Policial de Investigaciones (DPI) moved into the community of Nueva Armenia, Garifuna ancestral territory, threatening to evict them. These police officers had taken photographs and videos of the people of the community as a form of intimidation and threat. According to the National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders in Honduras, the intimidation was "part of private interests to favour the Palmas de Atlántida company".
On the same day, at night, the community was attacked by elements of the national preventive police and hooded tiger police, together with private security guards of the company.
