Right to Information (RTI) activist Rajendra Singh was shot dead in Bihar’s East Champaran district, India, on 20 June, 2018. Singh was known for his work in exposing discrepancies in the functioning of Life Insurance Corporation and other irregularities. He also brought to light the misuse of government funds meant for building toilets and housing under public welfare programs. Singh had survived at least three attempts on his life in the past.
