Eileen Fisher's response to TTNC Watch report on Taiwanese Businesses in Indonesia
EILEEN FISHER, Inc. appreciates the support of the international community as we stand together to protect workers’ rights. Some of the issues in the report have been identified as resolved.
The remaining issues are:
- The factory’s effective communication with each union represented and other worker-led taskforces
- Ensuring that workers are aware of their accommodations during pregnancy and union benefits
- Educating workers and supervisors about the importance of maintaining their one-hour lunch break which was established through collective bargaining; some workers have been returning to work before the end of their break
- Improving contract distribution and increasing contract length
To address these issues, we are collaborating with Better Work staff who personally visit the factory on a regular basis and support corrective action. We are also engaging with peer brands and agent partners in a precompetitive space to streamline communication with factory administration. We regularly survey workers in our supply chain to hear directly from them about the issues most important to them.
