Man, 34, killed by reversing truck at Staten Island Amazon warehouse

A 34-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a reversing box truck at a Staten Island Amazon warehouse, police said Thursday.

Leony Salcedo-Chevalier was by the loading dock of the JFK8-Amazon Fulfillment Center on Gulf Ave. near Chelsea Ave. in Bulls Head just before 11 p.m. Wednesday when a box truck that was backing up, driven by a 40-year-old man, ran into him.

EMS rushed the victim to Richmond University Medical Center, but he couldn’t be saved…

“This is a horrible tragedy, and our thoughts are with all those involved,” Amazon spokeswoman Sharyn Ghacham told the Daily News when reached Thursday. “We’re supporting law enforcement as they investigate further.”

Cops were investigating the fatal collision. No criminal charges have been filed.

The 4,800 Amazon workers at the JFK8 warehouse voted in 2022 to organize — making it the e-commerce behemoth’s first union shop in the country.
