Olympic Games: UNI World Players Association calls for higher pay to end financial precarity of majority of competing athletes
In July 2024, the head of UNI World Players Association, Matthew Graham, alleged in an opinion piece that the IOC’s business model leads to financial precarity of most of the competing athletes. According to him, these immense financial difficulties contribute to poor mental health among athletes, especially women athletes.
The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to comment on the allegations. The full comment can be found below.
