S. Korea: Worker killed in entrapment accident at factory of the nation’s largest bakery brand SPC
In the early hours of 19 May, a worker surnamed Kim was killed in an entrapment accident on the cream bread production line at the SPC factory. The fatal incident occurred around 3 a.m., when the worker became trapped in the upper section of a cooling conveyor belt while applying industrial lubricant beneath a large tower-type machine. Following the accident, police launched a criminal investigation and have booked seven individuals, including the factory centre manager, on charges of occupational negligence resulting in death. The Ministry of Employment and Labour has also booked CEO Kim Beom-soo and the company on suspicion of violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
