Tech companies respond to allegations of gender-based harm

In July 2025, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre and World Benchmarking Alliance published their joint report: By design or by default: The gendered harms of the tech sector. The report revealed more than 200 allegations of gender-based harm linked to 11 technology companies (Alibaba, Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Foxconn, Intel, Microsoft, Samsung, X and Uber) for risks across their value chain over the past ten years (2014-24).

The companies were asked to respond to the report before its publication. Foxconn and Samsung Electronics responded. Company responses and non-responses can be read in full below.
