On 29 December 2018, peasants from an indigenous community in Peru were assaulted by the security agents of the company Liderman, which belongs to the American multinational The Carlyle Group. The security guards sheltered the mine workers who were trying to forcefully remove the indigenous women from their land for mining purposes. The women claimed that the land had belonged to them for decades. These women were with their children when they were beaten and thrown to the ground. The workers were from the Antapaccay mine (Glencore investment). The local authorities have not started an investigation even though the police was involved and that there are video and photos of the incident. Glencore has declared that it will take action against the employees that are found responsible for the violence.
