Myanmar: US-based firm hired to run lobbying and media campaigns aiming to restore relations with the US government despite serious human rights violations; incl. co. response
On 7 August, despite the Military junta having been under international condemnation over serious human rights violations since the coup, DCI Group AZ, LLC—a public affairs firm with close link to US President Trump, was alleged to have sealed a lobbying agreement with the Military junta of Myanmar. The agreement was reportedly to be worth around US$3 million for a period of one year of lobbying and media campaign activities aimed at “rebuilding relations between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the United States, with a focus on trade, natural resources, and humanitarian relief.”
