Several People Killed, Many Missing in Bangladesh Factory Collapse

См. все теги

At least five people have died and scores are missing after part of a cement factory collapsed in Bangladesh on Thursday...Authorities said around 40 workers were injured in the accident, which occurred when a roof under construction caved in at an army-run factory in the port city of Mongla, about 188 miles southwest of the capital, Dhaka...The five-story factory is owned by Sena Kalyan Sangstha, a welfare trust for army soldiers set up by the government. A spokesman for the Sangstha said the cause of the accident was under investigation...Analysts say that although conditions in the garment industry, which exports clothes valued at $24 billion a year to brand-name stores in the West, have improved, less attention has been paid to other industries, such as leather, construction and cement.
